How It Works

TenantTale builds rental reliability scores through verified relationships and mutual participation. Here's how the process works — from connection to portable score.

Step 01

Verify a property

Before anything begins, landlords verify property ownership through our secure verification process. This ensures every connection on TenantTale is tied to a real rental property — not a fabricated claim.

Step 02

Connect with a code

The landlord generates a unique connection code and shares it with their tenant. Both parties must confirm the relationship before any scoring inputs can be submitted. No one-sided reviews. No anonymous feedback.

Step 03

Contribute monthly input

Each month, both the renter and landlord provide structured input about the rental relationship. Topics include payment timeliness, maintenance responsiveness, communication, and more. Scores update over time to reflect real, ongoing behavior.

Step 04

Build your score

Both parties receive a reliability score on a 300–850 scale. Scores are calculated from weighted factors specific to renting — not traditional credit metrics. The more history you build, the more your score reflects who you are as a renter or landlord.

Step 05

Carry it forward

Your score is portable. Renters can reference their history when applying to new properties. Landlords can demonstrate their track record to attract quality tenants. Both sides benefit from a shared, verified record.
