TenantTale (“TenantTale,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), operated by Skill Tree Solutions, Inc., is committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal information responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use our mobile application and related services. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Personal information you provide: Account data (name, email, phone number), identity verification (government ID, photos), financial details (income range, rent amount, employment status), rental history (years renting, previous addresses, eviction records), property information (addresses, ownership documents), and feedback (ratings, reviews, dispute information).
Automatically collected information: Device information (type, OS version, identifiers), usage data (features accessed, screens viewed, interaction times), and log data (IP address, access times, crash reports). Third-party authentication providers (Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft) may supply your name and email. CRS Credit API provides screening results when landlords order background checks with tenant consent.
We use information to provide and improve our services, calculate and display tenant and landlord reliability scores, facilitate connections between tenants and landlords, verify identity and rental information, communicate updates and respond to inquiries, detect and prevent fraud, and ensure platform security. We do not sell your personal information.
With other users: Connected landlords can see tenant scores and connected tenants can see landlord scores. Aggregated feedback ratings support scoring transparency. We never share your exact income or financial details, your government ID documents, or your contact information without your consent. With service providers: Cloud hosting, identity verification, screening, payment processing, and analytics vendors receive information under contractual protections. We may also disclose information for legal compliance, protection of rights, property, or safety, fraud prevention, and in connection with business transfers such as mergers or acquisitions.
We protect your data with AES-256 encryption for all stored information, with financial data secured in the iOS Keychain with hardware protection. All data in transit uses TLS 1.3 encryption. We enforce role-based access controls, OAuth 2.0 authentication, and support biometric authentication (Face ID/Touch ID) that never leaves your device. We conduct periodic security assessments. While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Access and portability: Export your complete personal data in JSON or PDF format via Settings > Privacy & Data > Export My Data. You can also view score calculation details at any time. Correction: Update your profile information through the App anytime. Deletion: Request account deletion through the App (Settings > Privacy & Data > Delete My Account) or email privacy@tenanttale.com. A 30-day grace period begins during which you can cancel the request. After 30 days, your data is permanently deleted. Consent management: Essential processing (scoring, profile management, fraud prevention) cannot be disabled while your account is active. Optional processing toggles are individually available for payment history, feedback, and matching.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, request correction, opt out of sales (we do not sell personal information), and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. EU/EEA residents (GDPR): You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. Processing is based on contractual necessity and consent.
Account information is retained until deletion. Score history, payment history, feedback and reports, screening results, and consent records are retained for 7 years. Adverse action notices are retained for 5 years. Rental applications are retained for 3 years. Verification documents are retained for 1 year post-verification. Usage logs are retained for 12 months. Session data is retained for 30 days. Deleted account data enters a 30-day grace period before permanent deletion. Anonymized data may be retained for analytics after deletion. Retention is automatically enforced.
Landlords may request FCRA-compliant background checks on applicants through the App via CRS Credit API. Screening requires the tenant's explicit written consent before any check is initiated. Results may include credit, criminal, and eviction history. Adverse action notices include consumer rights and consumer reporting agency contact information.
TenantTale is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal information, we will promptly delete it.
Information may be processed in countries outside your jurisdiction with appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates are posted in-App with updated dates and notifications for material changes. The App tracks policy versions and prompts re-acceptance when material changes occur.
This policy is designed in alignment with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and Apple App Store Guidelines.
